The way that the brain receives sound is some of the fastest processing that it can accomplish. By the time one recognizes that they are hearing music, the auditory cortex has already transmitted its response to the cerebellum. This means that the brain has broken down sound into pitch, timbre, duration before we can consciously analyze it. You Already Know seeks to exist in and exemplify this notion.

The work was written for percussion-trio-turned-indie-rock-band Square Peg Round Hole’s wonderful and unique instrumentation.
